What is MY Impact on Climate Change / Global Warming ?
How do I know my Impact on Climate Change / Global Warming ?The simplest way to work out your personal impact on climate change is to determine your Carbon Footprint. This is an estimate of the green house gases emissions related to how you live your life based on;
How much and how you travel? How you heat/power your home? What you eat and what you buy? There are a whole range of Carbon Footprint tools. Devon County Councils Devon Climate Emergency Project supports using the World Wildlife Carbon Footprint Tool. Once you know your Carbon Footprint and what the major contributors are, you can see how you might reduce it by making changes to your lifestyle. And thus reduce your impact on Climate Change and Global Warming. |
Thurlestone Parish has a HIGH average Household Carbon FootprintThe Average Household Carbon Footprint in our Parish, as modelled by the University of Exeter, is significantly higher than the average for the South Hams and UK. This is driven by home heating and travel emissions, see graphs below. So anything we can do to (a) Improve the insulation of our homes and efficiency of heating them (b) Reduce the emissions from our travelling, will significantly reduce our carbon footprint
