Our village green memorial pays homage to the men of Thurlestone Parish who died in World War 1.

About Robin:
Robin Macdonald was born in Birkenhead and graduated with a BA Honours in English from Liverpool University before pursuing a career in commerce and management consultancy. Robin and his wife Pat settled in Thurlestone in 1977 and became deeply involved in community activities. Robin's passion for family history research led to a project to research the Thurlestone War Memorial. |
An exhibition of the results was staged in the Parish Hall in 2014. The project was further developed to include all the Thurlestonians who had served in WW1, and whose lives and service records are now catalogued in this book. The exhibition with content and video enhancements was again staged in the Parish Hall in 2018 to commemorate 100 years since World War 1. |
