Home energy use accounts for 40% of average household carbon emissions in Thurlestone Parish.  Here are some ways to reduce our home energy use:

• Check for and eliminate drafts from poorly fitting windows and doors.
• Change to LED lighting which use 80% less energy than conventional tungsten lamps.
• When you have to replace a household appliance (e.g. cooker, washing machine, etc.) choose an energy efficient appliance.
• Improve your homes insulation, if you can.
• When your heating boiler fails consider a renewable energy alternative, such as a heat pump.
