THURLESTONE BRIDGE CLUB
Thurlestone Bridge Club started in 1984 and in the first year, the membership grew to 39 members. In those days, the Club met on Friday evenings in the Barn at The Old Rectory. They were limited to a maximum of 6 tables, but this could increase to 8 tables in fine weather , when 2 tables could be put outside.
Membership fees were £2 per head per annum and table money was 50p to include coffee and biscuits.
In 1986, Thurlestone Bridge Club moved to the Parish Hall, where it has been continuously since then.
Over the years, the membership increased to its then maximum of 60 members with a waiting list. However, as the waiting list grew, it was decided to start a second Bridge Club, and in 1990, Bridge Sessions began on Wednesday evenings as well as Friday evenings.
In January 2010, the Wednesday Bridge Club and the Friday Bridge Club amalgamated to form Thurlestone Bridge Club and our membership is currently around 90 members.
The Club is affiliated to the English Bridge Union.
Membership fees are £7.50 per head per annum (with an initial joining fee of £5) and table money is £1.50 to include refreshments.
We meet on Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm in Thurlestone Parish Hall.
